Glitter and Glamour themeparty (3 quick looks)

Hi everyone,

Last night I went to a birthday party with Nic and Nouk and the theme was Glitter and Glamour. This meant we had to go for some sparkle. Nic and I were wearing glitter nailpolish (Glow up already by OPI’s Burlesque collection) .

I hated myself for not bringing my camera because the makeup turned out very sweet and glittery but not over the top. I did take some pictures with my iPhone though and I’ll walk you through the makeup very quickly.

Nouk:

Nouk was the first makeup I did (not counting my own), she also had to go to a baby shower, so I had to make sure she could show up there without everyone tripping over the glitters. For her makeup I started with the Sephora Smoothing Primer, the tester I got has enough for 4 uses and really impressed me, her skin felt amazing (just like with the famous Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer). At the end of the night her makeup still looked amazing, slightly more shiney then with the Smashbox version, but the Sephora version is a LOT cheaper! I used MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation and the green concealer from the Sephora Concealer Palette to conceal any redness around her nose and on her cheeks (she has a cold). I used the normal light concealer from the same palette under her eyes and set her makeup with a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural.  Next I contoured her cheeks with a little Smashbox contouring powder (no longer sold) and Continue reading

Birthday looks on me and the girls

Hi everyone,

It was Nic’s birthday this weekend (Happy Birthday honey!!) and that meant I was doing makeup for a party. Nouk and I had to wear our look during the day as well, so they were toned down slightly. I’m showing you the pictures to give you an idea of makeup looks you can do for a party. No big list of products used because honestly I can’t remember it all, I was running around doing sooo many things that day, that I don’t remember what I used for everything. Nouk is wearing colours from the SLEEK Graphite palette, I’m wearing the purple from the No.7 Decades Collection – the Noughties palette and an Urban Decay DeLuxe Shadow in Fridgid, Nic is wearing a LOT of SLEEK purples from many different palettes. On our lips Nouk is wearing a GOSH gloss, I’m wearing Urban Decay lipliner in Naked topped with a clear gloss and Nic is wearing a Maybelline lipstick topped with a little Melon Pigment by MAC.

Silver

Hi everyone,

I don’t instantly love a nailpolish that often, it happened exactly the same with Pasadena Purple, but this silver is amazing, sparkly, nice opacity, easy to apply, no bubbles or anything. A lot better then the Essie silver I own and it’s a serious contender for the best silver ever if you ask me. This is 2 coats of 555 Silver by GOSH.

Sally Hansen Dianmond Strength No Chip Nail Color – 89 Honeymoon Red

Frou-Frou

Hi everyone,

Well, in Western-Europe it’s been SNOWING!!!! There have been weather warnings and everything. It looks sooo pretty, but I hate driving in this weather.

Anyway, I wanted to show you this amazing polish I have, it’s called Frou-Frou and it’s by GOSH. This is two coats and it’s perfect. It stayed on for over 4 days without any chipping.

The fake sunlight pictures show the colour best:

I’m still here

Hi everyone,

I’ve been extremely busy at my internship, many collegues have been ill so I’ve actually been taking over peoples hours for 4 weeks now, which is why I haven’t been here at all. Today is Sunday, coming week hopefully will be more rest and sleep for me.

Here’s a quick review on the Illamasqua products I ordered recently. The loose pigment is SUPER. I’ll try and do a look with it later today and post it. The pencil however was a huge disappointment. It’s a pretty hard pencil and the payoff is a lot less then I expected. Also it’s not easy to smudge or blend so I wouldn’t get more of those, my favourite pencils are and remain today the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. The brushes I got however are SUPER, I have no other way to describe them. I’ll show them to you when I do the look (if I have time). They’re the best brushes I have so that’s saying a lot!

I’ve found an AMAZING Halloween Tutorial on YouTube and I can’t embed it but I will give you the link to it (part 1 and part 2). I wouldn’t use ordinairy glue on my skin though, so get kids glue or use surgical adhesive or actual face glue.

I had these nails a while back, the polishes an Essence green and a GOSH glittery blue which I layerd (like I did with the Thills in Beverly Hills nails)

They’re not super awesome, but I wanted some pictures to go with this post. ;)

I hope you’re all okay!

Bright blue eye look with matching nails (Friday, August 22, 2008)

I read in my ELLE UK (September 2008) issue that the beauty trend is coloured eyeshadow. Now you guys probably know by now that I like using colour on my eyes, but this was very bright. They say “wear it with a bare face to ensure the overall look is grown-up” (page 360). So here goes, the bright look using ocean blue colours (because of course it’s still summer, for winter you could do the same look using navy blue, deep purple or an olive green). This is a very easy look for people new at makeup or who think they’re not that good at doing makeup because it’s almost no blending and not many colours.

To have my skin looking radiant I cleaned my face thoroughly.

Products in this picture:
– Clinique, 7 day scrub
– Clinique, Dramatically Different Moisurising Gel
– Stri-Vectin-SD, Eyecream

Preparation
I started with the last of my L`Oreal Happyderm Cleansing Mousse Dry/Sensitive Skin followed by Clinique’s 7day scrub. Remember when scrubbing your face, to also massage your neck with the leftover on your hands. Most women forget to clean, scrub, moisturise and use SPF on this area and their age shows up here first because of it. Using the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel on my face (and neck) was the next thing I did, I was told you can also use this on your eyes, but I prefer to use the Stri-Vectin there.

Products in this picture:
– Bourjois, Vibrant duochrome mascara (using only the top coat)
– Bourjois, Metallic eyeliner – 54 Blue clinquant
– Sephora Brand Professionnel, Rounded Crease Brush – no. 13
– Urban Decay, Eyeshadow Primer Potion
– Clinique, Lash Power mascara long-wearing formula – 01 black onyx
– Elizabeth Arden, Eight Hour cream
– GOSH, Effect powder – Azure
– Sephora, Eyelash curler

Eyes
I did the eyes before the foundation because there is a big risk of fallout when using powder shadows and I didn’t want to have new blue circles under my eyes ;) .
I started with the Primer Potion to ensure there is no creasing later today. Because only the eye colour is supposed to pop, I skipped the HighBrow and went straight to the blue eyeliner coating my eyelid to the crease and drawing a line under my eye as well. I gave both my waterlines (upper and lower) a coat of this eyeliner pencil. I then packed the rounded crease brush with the GOSH Azure and went all over the blue line going up into and a little over the crease. To get the colour perfect I used a windscreen wiper motion in the crease first and then making small circles to go over the crease and to blend it out a little, I still like a little bit of a “hard” line on this look, but it shouldn’t end with a hard line but blended to look something like this:

The metallic eyeliner gives the colour an extra depth on the lid and the blending out the Azure without the pencil underneath makes it a lot easier. I curled my upper eyelashes and I used my mom’s new Clinique mascara, I know you’re not supposed to use other people’s mascaras, but it’s my mom, so I figure we have swapped so much in the past, this will not kill me now ;) . I like this mascara, it has a very thin brush that makes application extremely easy and it gave my lashes a great coat of colour. I would show you but I went over it with another colour, I just needed the dark base to thicken the lashes and I wanted to check out my mum’s mascara. A plus point about this base is, that the colour I went over it with is hard to get of your lashes normally, but with this mascara under it, it went very easy. I went over the Clinique with the ocean blue-ish (there is no number on it, sorry guys) Vibrant duochrome mascara, I also gave my lower lashes a coat of this mascara topcoat.

Products in this picture:
– Sephora Brand, “Tricks of the Trade” Immediate Wrinkle Filler
– Smashbox, Clear Photo Finish – foundation primer
– Sephora, Concealer palette
– Smashbox, Photo Op – Under eye brightener
– Smashbox, High Definition Healthy FX Foundation – Light L3
– The Body Shop, Concealer brush

Face
Starting with the wrinkle filler under my eyes and the foundation primer over my face (except my eyes) I gave my skin a silky base for the rest of the makeup. Using the under eye brightener over the wrinkle filler and over my dark circles with a tapping motion has become my daily routine. I used the foundation with my fingers today because I wanted a little less of a base, because I wanted my skin to look natural, using my fingers to blend shows my freckles more. I mixed the pink and the lightest colour of the Sephora concealer palette on my hand before placing it on my dark circles and blending it with the brush.

Lips
I used Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream on my lips to give them a little TLC and shine.

Products in this picture:
– Herome, Caring Nailpolish remover
– OPI, Original Envy nail strengthener
– OPI, Nail lacquer – Birthday babe
– GOSH, Nail lacquer – 540 Ocean
– Sally Hansen, Ultimate Shield – TopCoat

Nails
I took of my old nailpolish using a cotton pad and nailpolish remover, I really like the Herome one because it doesn’t make my nails break easily. This may sound weird, but if I use another remover and do everything in my life the same, they break much faster then when I’m using this. Next up was the nail strengthener, I believe that when you change nailpolish often and do the dishes etc. etc. that you need a nail strengthener at least as a base. I used the silvery OPI nailpolish (birthday babe) as a colour under the Ocean, because I wanted a little lighter colour then was in the GOSH bottle. I used one coat of Ocean over the OPI and followed with the TopCoat. (l let every coat dry between each application).
Without a flash:

With flash:

I hope you like this bright look. I like it on my eye, but it’s one of those looks again that women love and men think is simply to much makeup.
