Hi everyone,

I went to see my friend Angelique this Saturday and I’ve done her makeup before

Everytime I do her makeup I try something new, she has the most amazing colour blue eyes so I went for a copper eye to bring out the blue first, then I went for an extremely smokey eye and a neutral makeup last time. This Saturday we both went for a more colourful look. As I chose the colours I tried to find colours that went with the blue in her hair and I did a makeup that is not for everyday, but it’s very beautiful. It fits her pixie haircut and I love the end result. Thankfully she loved it too.

Endresult:

As you can see the makeup went through her brows and up to her hairline. I used SOOO many colours, you’ll be amazed.

Face:
She is very pale and I love that about her, so on a well moisturized face I used a mixture of Smashbox’s Illuminating Serum (no longer sold) with a Sephora Primer to create a base that the foundation would look perfect on. I used my Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid air-whipped foundation for an Air-brish finish in the colour 010 Ivory. Using a little concealer under her eyes mixing the lightest with a little of the pink from the Sephora Palette Correcttrice adds brightness. I then powdered her face with Make Up For Ever Professional Super Matte Loose Powder in the colour 10 which is a translucent white powder to set all the makeup. I used my favourite blush for a cold tinted makeup which was from Essence‘s Surfer Babe collection from last year, the colour I chose was 01 Big Wave Survivor. I used this just enough to show up, but not very heavy because I knew that I could add to it later when the eyes where finished (I didn’t). I used a light bronzer as a contour on her because she’s so light skinned. I went for a Stila – Sun Bronzer.

Lips:
Angelique has lips she likes a little fuller, so I went over the top edge with an Essence 2 in 1 kajal pencil in 06 Flirty & Hip, this pencil is no longer available, but it’s a light grey on one side and a light pink on the other. Going over the top edge with the pink gives it a little light which makes it appear fuller. I then used 2 Essence lipliners one for the outer corners and to line the bottom lip which was the colour 05 Soft Berry and I then filled in the rest and over drew the top lip with 06 Satin Mauve. Using more then one colour lip pencil gives the lips more depth and gives you more room to play with the shape. I mixed two Urban Decay lipsticks to fill her lips in with, I used Wicked and Lovechild to create a pink with a blue undertone to go with the eye look I did. On the centre of her lips I then added a Sephora Super Shimmer Lipgloss in the colour Think Pink.

Eyes:
For her eyes I started with a liquid eyeshadow to create a base. For this I used Bourjois Shimmering Shine in the colours 37 Blanc over her lid and 35 Gris in the crease. I’m sorry these pots are no longer available :( .
I then used a no longer available Sephora palette called Paradise Island. You could substitute this with a Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams. I used a light silver colour for the inner corner (sub would be 4 Snow), then a light blue (sub would be 21 Turquoise mixed with a little 04 snow). Using a colour base means the colours are more vibrant in these areas. I used Painterly Paintpot by MAC on her brow bone and blended this into the temples.

As shadows on her top lid I used only loose pigments (called Effect Powders – all by GOSH), this because these colours blend so seamlessly and over a greater area creating amazing colours in between. On the inner corner I used an Effect Powder in the colour Sky (sparkly white). I then used BlueBell (lavender) all over her eye as a wash of colour. Adding a little Azure (soft green) sparingly on the “middle” of the eyelid creating a seabluegreen. Then I used Butterfly (vibrant purple) on the outer corner and into the crease. I then took some Spa (bright blue) on her brow bone  and blended this up and down, making sure the colour depth stayed on the brow bone. I used Paradise (light golden green shimmer) over the entire top of the brow, blending it into the blue and giving it all a mermaid/pixie glow. To not go into the skin color abruptly I blended a light pink called Meringue on the edges and out into the skin tone.
I then took some eyeliners (all by Essence) as close to the lash line as I could get. Starting from the inner corner I used a little bit of Surfer Babe eyeliner in the colour 02, The world’s coolest (light blue), then going into a Metal glam eyeliner in 05, Breezy beach (turquoise), followed by another Essence Surfer Babe eyeliner, only this time in the colour 01, Hang Loose (Purple) and ending with the last Surfer eyeliner in 03, Pointbreak.

I used The world’s coolest and Breezy beach also on the bottom lashes, but I ended with a little Crystal eyeliner in the colour 07, Get ready. At this point that was the only colour on the bottom lash line and that was not what I planned, I wanted to use the eyeliners as a base for the bottom colours (using all Sleek Palettes), starting with the light turquoise green from the Sleek Jewels Palette on the inside of the bottom lash line, blending this into a little of the green that’s also in this palette. I went over this colour with a little turquoise from the Curious Palette. You might wonder why I’m adding colours over colours, this is to create a colour with different layers, which adds depth and makes it stay on a lot longer. I then went on to mix this into the bright blue from the Original palette and finally into the bright blue that I mixed with a cornflower blue from the Curious Palette. I winged this colour out with more of the Original bright blue.

All of a sudden I missed something and added a deeper crease with the deep blue from the Original palette and topped with with a MAC Loose pigment in Cornflower.

Because Angel has such light brows I could go through them with my makeup, but I did want to add a light brow to her face at the end. Mixing three of the matte colours from the Chaos palette (the light brown, the brown and the black).

Now to add to the Umph of the look I wanted false lashes. Angel has long, but not very full lashes. I didn’t want a full set because that would mean adding a harsh line to the top lashes to hide the seam, so I went for loose bundles of lashes. Starting with a Catrice Kajal Designer in 080 Midnight Blue on the outer corner to add some extra depth there. I’d bought Eylure lashes and we went for the Naturalites artificial lashes that can stay on for up to 4 weeks. This pack is including a lash adhesive and a remover. I’d never used these before and I hope they will stay on for 4 weeks. I placed the smallest size all over her lash line (not on the innermost corner). These lashes shouldn’t be applied to the skin, but to the lashes themselves. This means taking your time and using a good pair of tweezers. When I was done with a full eye of the smallest ones (leaving about 1 mm between each lash bundle) I added three medium bunches on the outer corners in between the smallest ones. If she looks right at you you don’t see the false lashes as being extremely false, when she looks down, you see where I placed them. If you have darker lashes or more dense lashes, the start of the lashes will disappear more. I added some black mascara when the glue was dry.

** Edit: the lashes didn’t even last the night :( Huge disappointment

I then cleaned up under her eyes where there was a little fallout (not much, but if you’re new at working with pigments, I’d do the eyes first and the foundation last).
